Who knows what the truth is? Sometimes it’s easier to find the truth in a murder case, than in a rape. All the facts and all the statements and all the evidence have to be looked at, carefully. There is often a clear-cut financial motive, in a murder case, as well as more undisturbed physical evidence. But in a rape case, the motive is harder to prove, and the physical evidence is already 2 years old, in this case. I’m not saying that it was right to commit this crime, if it was committed–but it will be hard to find the truth, after 2 years have passed. We certainly don’t want these boys to do this again, if they are in fact guilty, but we certainly don’t want to wreck their lives either with suspicion of guilt, if they are in fact innocent, either. And, rushing to judgment, and jumping to conclusions, never helps. Some cases take decades to find out the truth.
And there is our old “friend”, AOC, jumping to conclusions, rushing to judgment–in order to peddle her own brand of ideology. Thorough investigation takes time, effort, and money–is she offering any of THAT, to help solve this case? Remember the media spotlight that burned Sam Sheppard, and completely destroyed him and his family, a spotlight that was completely unnecessary, in the first place. (Oh, and did I forget to mention that the real killer was never charged, never seriously looked at, and remained free to kill again, in the same horrific way that Sam Sheppard was wrongfully convicted instead for what the real killer had actually done.) But, the media spotlight was shining bright, and the court system was eager to convict–and so an innocent man and his family took the fall, while a guilty man walked free to cause more horror. So, remember that AOC, while you are in such a rush to get results and are shining that bright spotlight on 7 kids–who may be innocent.
