Yeah, the UK is currently in political decline, for sure…remember when they were the “civilized world”, and we were just the “frontier colonies”, full of “backwards people” (according to the high and mighty lords of England, when ridiculing Benjamin Franklin, during his first trip to London)? Now, we are the powerful–and free–and they have become very “backward”. They thought their mighty empire could push us around–and tell us what to do–until 1775. Then, all of a sudden, they realized that we could shoot (and fight)–just like anyone else! (What a surprise for THEM, huh?) The first group of about 1000 British soldiers who marched through Lexington and came to Concord, ran into about 20,000 American militiamen, and quickly retreated back to Boston. They might’ve been wiped out, if not for the timely reinforcement of another 1000 British soldiers. However, they still suffered heavy casualties on the way back–and never came back to Concord, again. Eventually, Washington showed up, got heavy artillery brought down from Fort Ticonderoga, and placed them on the hills, all around Boston, which was now under seige. The British gave up on Boston, sailed away–and never came back to the Boston area, again. They then came down to our area (the Midlantic states), and although initially successful, a stalemate entually resulted. So they then invaded the South, and were initially very successful. But then they started to get their ass kicked real hard, down South (patriot guerrillas, Overmountain Men at Kings Mountain, Greene at Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse), then finally got annihilated at Yorktown. And that was it, for the UK telling US what to do! And no more successful during the (much shorter) War of 1812 against US, either! Then, by 1941 (and 1917)–THEY needed OUR help–real bad! They aren’t called “The Old World” for nothing, lagging behind our new Conservative Revolution–and still clinging to FAILED liberal-progressive ideas. Freedom of Speech is in the First Amendment of OUR Bill of Rights, which US soldiers have fought and died to keep in our country–is it in THEIRS?
